Nomadland 就是這次得獎的電影！
在台灣叫《遊牧人生》，
在 Hong Kong 香港叫《浪跡天地》，
and in China 是叫《無依之地》。
3. The Academy Awards 學院獎
其實更常見的稱呼是 Oscars 奧斯卡金像獎，
但他的正式名稱是 The Academy Awards.
它每年由美國電影藝術與科學學院組織與頒發
given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
所以 The Academy Awards 為什麼也叫 Oscars?
Oscars 其實是小金人獎杯 (trophy) 的名稱，
這是從 1939 以來的正式名稱。
名稱的由來有一些不同的說法，
但至今還沒有一個官方公認的源頭。
4. Three Character Classics 三字經
這個出現在 Chloé Zhao 的得獎感言裡，
她特別引述了「人之初性本善 People at birth are inherently good」，
Inherently 是本質的、天生就擁有的。
在朗讀文章裡有更完整的片段：
“There’s one that I remember so dearly, it’s called the Three Character Classics. The first phrase goes… ‘People at birth are inherently good.’ Those six letters had such a great impact on me when I was a kid, and I still truly believe them today.

1. MADE HISTORY (片語) 創造歷史
如朗讀文章裡：
Chloe Zhao has made history by becoming the first woman of colour (美國拼法 color) to win the best director award at the Oscars.
Made 是創造 make 這個動詞的過去式，
那 history 是歷史的意思。
Made history 是一個 phrasal verb，
所以 “made” 這個動詞可以有一些詞性變化，
如 make history 以及 making history。
送上 make history 的造句：
I can’t wait to make history! 我等不及要創造歷史了！
例如，運動選手可能會這樣說 😄
再一個例句:
We can’t wait to make history together. 我們迫不及待地一起創造歷史。
比如說一個即將發生的計畫，
而且已經知道會破紀錄的。
我也找了一個 making history 的例子：
Chloé Zhao is making history as the first woman of color to win an Academy Award for directing.

另外，還可以這樣變化，
Made [什麼的] history，
把被改變歷史的機構/單位/活動名稱放在 made 和 history 中間，

2. -maker (字尾) 製作者、製造者、製造商
今天文章的 headline 標題就使用了 -maker：
Chloe Zhao, from ‘outsider 局外人’ to Hollywood history-maker
History-maker 這個名詞有兩個意思，
第一是最常見的用法：創造歷史的人、或破紀錄的人，
第二個非常少見（但也正確 😄）的意思是：寫或記載歷史的人，例如史官。
為什麼標題要說 from outsider 局外人 ?
緣由是趙婷最近被英國媒體 (⚠️ podcast 裡口誤說成美國媒體 😅 ) The Telegraph 採訪說：
“Zhao recently told The Telegraph about the stories that appeal to her,
趙婷最近向 The Telegraph 講述了吸引她的故事，
“Wherever I’ve gone in life, I’ve always felt like an outsider,” she said.
她說：“人生中無論我走到哪裡，我總是覺得自己像一個局外人。”
“So I’m naturally drawn towards other people who live on the periphery,
所以我很自然地被生活在邊緣的人所吸引，
or don’t live mainstream lifestyles.”
或那些不過主流生活方式的人。
文章中有另一個 -maker 的用法出現：
Film-maker 電影製片人
With her Oscar triumph 勝利, 39-year-old Zhao has been recognised (US 拼法 recognized) as 被認為是 one of the most distinctive 獨特 and talented 有才華 film-makers 電影製片人 to emerge 浮現 in recent years.
更多 -maker 用法有 Matchmaker 媒人，
造個句子：
She is a professional matchmaker in New York City. 她是位於紐約市的專業媒人。
現在要來問一個重要的問題！
什麼時候要 hyphenate (用間隔號)，什麼時候不用？😱
是 historymaker 還是 history-maker?
Film-maker 或是 filmmaker?
要讓你失望了，答案不太簡單 😅
簡單來說 it depends 看狀況。
有些字 (如 matchmaker) 很明確，
去 google 就可以看出來哪個比較 popular (我會看哪個搜尋結果比較多)。
有些時候不太明確，兩個感覺都很常見，
filmmaker / film-maker 就是這樣，兩個都很常見！
遇到這種狀況，我的建議是：
- 如果你在學校寫 paper
教授通常會給你 style guide，如果沒給也可以跟教授要 😊
例如 Associated Press Style Guide 或 The Chicago Manual of Style，
那你就按照教授指定的 style guide 就好了。
- 如果你不是寫 paper，是其他需求，如工作 / 職場上
我會很快的 google，然後取搜尋結果 (search results) 最多的那一個，
如果可以找到一些大媒體 (如 CNN, BBC, Reuters 等) 有使用那更棒，
然後最重要的是，
選定了就要 stick to it!
不要一封 email / 文章裡來回使用不同的 😄
3. UP FOR (片語)
朗讀文章裡：
Chinese-born, British-educated, US-based Zhao is also up for best picture 最佳影片 and editing 最佳剪輯 for Nomadland.
文章裡的意思是：被考慮；也入圍 (up for 什麼獎)
但 up for 其實有更多用法和意思！如：
- 想要吃或做什麼
- ⚠️ 這是 informal 非正式的用法
送上例句：
I’m up for some Chinese food. 我可以吃中國菜。
OR 來自 Merriam Webster 字典的
Are you up for watching a movie? 你想看電影嗎？
- 東西正在賣 (開放購買)，可以說 up for sale
– That house at the end of our road is up for sale. 這條路盡頭的那棟房子在賣。
Cambridge Dictionary
- 開放領養 Up for adoption
These puppies are up for adoption. 這些小狗開放領養。#領養代替購買
- Up for promotion 被考慮要被升職
Are you really up for promotion? 你真的要被考慮升職嗎？
- 合約要續簽了 Up for renewal
His contract is up for renewal in June. 他的合約六月就要到期了 (可以續簽了)。
PS：Up for 這麼多用法，我的記法是
不是每個人 / 動物 / 東西都有這個機會的，
這麼多房子不是每個都在賣，不是每個人都會被考慮升職，
一旦有這個機會 / 被考慮的時候，就會被推上去 (up)，
Playing field (競爭環境) 就跟別人不一樣了。
