Ep 88 Refugee crisis

They were fleeing for their life. A number of non-Ukrainians of color have reported facing discrimination while waiting in line at the border.”請問排隊是不是wait in line或wait in a line有沒有冠詞都可以呢?

Hey Jessie! Thanks for your comment! ❤️

      1. You make a very good point! In fact, 我剛剛搜尋 “were fleeing for their lives” 出現頻率更常見!

      2. Line 是美式的說法,英式的說法是 queue,他們說排隊就會加 a,如 wait in a queue。但美國一般都說 wait in line (一些地區甚至會說 wait on line),除非要加形容詞如 wait in a long line 在很長的隊伍裡等待。

Hope this helps! And thanks for listening! 😊

Hello Han, thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I’ve learned a lot from you and your podcast — not only English but also current events and Western culture. I especially love those inspirational quotes! By the way, I just read Arwa Damon’s article that you referred to in this episode. It’s really heartbreaking to know the unfair situation of refugees from the Middle East. Most of them have lived in the refugee camps over seven years and the world seem to forget them already…

Thank you again for your great work and patience. Also thanks for helping raise awareness on the issue.
        XOXO, Jessie
