1. You make a very good point! In fact, 我剛剛搜尋 “were fleeing for their lives” 出現頻率更常見！單數 “were fleeing for their life” 出現在一些媒體上，口語上也很常聽到，但我思考過後覺得你說的複數 lives 才是語法最正確的用法 💪 當然，當某人的 pronoun 為 they 時，即使用 they 但實際上是只有一個人，這時候就更會使用單數 life。
2. Line 是美式的說法，英式的說法是 queue，他們說排隊就會加 a，如 wait in a queue。但美國一般都說 wait in line (一些地區甚至會說 wait on line)，除非要加形容詞如 wait in a long line 在很長的隊伍裡等待。這好像只是一種長期省略變成的習慣，像很多語言的用法，因為很多人這樣說久而久之就變成主流正確的了。
